We cut scrub, saplings, blackberry, gorse and unwanted timber and mulch it where it stands. Nothing is burnt and nothing is carted away, the mulch stays on the ground as a layer that holds moisture and slows regrowth.
It clears vegetation at ground level, so stumps and roots stay in place. Trees you want kept, stay. Very dense growth can need a second pass.

The machine is a tracked skid steer running a drum mulching head, with a disc cutter for the larger stems the drum will not take. Tracks spread the weight, so we can work wet or sloping country without tearing the ground up, and we can get through standard farm gates and around existing fencing.
Output depends on density. Light regrowth moves quickly, mature blackberry, gorse or heavy timber is slower and often wants a second pass to bring the finish down further. We walk the property with you first, mark what stays, flag anything protected, and give you a straight timeframe before we start.

What is forestry mulching?
Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses a heavy drum mulcher, and a disc cutter for larger stems, to cut standing scrub, regrowth, blackberry and unwanted timber into mulch that stays on the ground. No burning and no haul-away. The mulch layer feeds the soil, holds moisture and slows regrowth. It cuts vegetation at ground level, it does not remove stumps or roots.
What can forestry mulching clear?
Dense scrub, saplings, blackberry, gorse, lantana, woody weeds and unwanted timber up to the head's capacity. The drum mulcher handles the bulk of vegetation; the disc cutter takes larger woody stems the drum can't reach. Trees you want kept, stay, we work around them.
What happens to the vegetation after mulching?
It stays on-site as a mulch layer, typically 5, 15cm thick depending on how heavy the vegetation was. That layer breaks down over the following seasons, suppresses regrowth, locks in soil moisture and adds organic matter, especially valuable on Central Victoria's clay and gravel country.
Is forestry mulching better than burning or bulldozing?
For most rural properties, yes. Burning needs permits, only works in narrow weather windows, and leaves bare ground exposed to erosion. Bulldozing rips out topsoil, root structure and anything you wanted to keep. Forestry mulching leaves the soil structure intact and needs no burn permit. It will not remove stumps or roots, so if you need a clear site down to bare earth, excavation is the better fit.
What should I do after forestry mulching?
Leave the mulch layer in place, it's doing the work. If you're chasing declared weeds like blackberry or gorse, plan a spot-spray pass on any regrowth 6, 12 weeks later; mechanical clearing plus targeted follow-up is what actually holds them back. If you're planting or building, the ground is ready to work as soon as we're off it.
