We slash long grass, weeds and light regrowth back to a low, even cut across paddocks, house yards, laneways and vacant land.
Best done before grass cures off in late spring. Once it is dry and standing, it is fuel, and it hides snakes, rubbish and holes.

We cut around sheds, tanks, fence lines, culverts and driveways, not just the open middle, because that is where a fire actually gets a hold. Rough ground, stumps, rocks and hidden rubbish are all worked around, and we will tell you on the walk-through if part of the property is better mulched than slashed.
For rural land we can set the height to suit pasture, horse paddocks or hay country. For house yards and vacant land we cut lower for a tidy finish and to meet council fire-prevention standards.

How often should paddocks be slashed?
Depends on grass type, rainfall and what you're using the paddock for. Most Central Victorian properties need at least one solid slash pre-summer (October to early December) to knock cured grass down before fire season, and a follow-up in autumn if it's had a wet spring. Absentee owners often go on a two or three cut a year schedule.
How short do you cut?
For fire prevention we aim to bring pasture down to around 100mm (10cm), that's the height most councils and the CFA use as the fire hazard threshold. For general tidiness we cut a bit lower. For hay paddocks and horse country we set the height to suit.
Can you slash properties that haven't been touched in years?
Yes. overgrown properties with tall thick grass, saplings and light scrub are what the machine is built for. If it's turned into proper woody scrub or blackberry, we'll switch to the mulcher, still one call, same crew.
Do you slash residential yards or just rural?
Both. Anything from a suburban Bendigo property that's got away from you through to broadacre paddocks measured in hectares. If the gate opens wide enough for the machine, we can get in.
Do you offer regular slashing plans through summer?
Yes, we run seasonal maintenance plans for property owners who want their property kept on top of through the growing season. Locks in your slot before fire season, no need to chase us in November when everyone else is trying to book.
Will you slash if the council has issued me a fire prevention notice?
Yes, and bring the notice with you to the site visit. It tells us the exact standard and deadline the council wants met, and it means the job is done properly the first time so you don't get billed by the council contractor.
