Council, commercial and subcontract work: how it actually runs
A growing share of our work is for councils, government bodies, commercial sites and other contractors who need a vegetation crew they can hand a scope to. It runs differently to private work, so here's how it's set up and what we can take on.
What we carry
$20 million public liability insurance, with a certificate of currency available on request. Safe work method statements for each service, risk assessments, plant registers and daily pre-start checks. Tickets for skid steer and excavator work. If your procurement process asks for a document, we either have it or can produce it.
The work that suits us
Roadside and reserve slashing, firebreak and asset protection zone maintenance, scrub and declared weed clearing, vegetation management on vineyards and solar farms, and make-safe cleanup after storm, fire or flood. We run our own plant: skid steers, excavators, mulchers and slashers, so there's no subcontract chain under us.
Panels, tenders and purchase orders
We're set up for vendor panels, requests for quote and one-off purchase orders. Pricing is per scope, in writing, with a clear inclusions and exclusions list so there's no argument at invoice time. Variations get quoted before the work happens, not after.
Subcontracting to other contractors
If you're a civil or building contractor who's won work with a vegetation component, we can take that package off your hands. We turn up when we say we will, we work to your program, and we don't need managing.
Service area
Our regular patch is within about 150km of Bendigo, which covers Shepparton, Kerang and Ararat. For larger council or commercial programs we travel further. If the job's big enough, distance isn't the issue.
